“The Valiant Villian” – Brevard Little Theatre (American Legion Hall)     a somewhat zany melodrama with a twist!  12:00, 2:00, and 4:00 p.m.

Get out of sun for a while during the Fourth of July Festival and come BOO,  HISS, and CHEER while you enjoy a good ole fashioned American melodrama on July 4th at the Brevard Little Theatre,  housed in the  newly air conditioned American Legion Hall located on Johnson & 55 Jordan Street–just one block over from downtown Main Street.  (Cool drinks and snacks will be available.)

Perhaps a fly casting clinic?

A romantic hike to a remote waterfall, followed by a wine tasting in front of blazing fire – how do you top that for a couple’s retreat on Valentine’s Day weekend? How about a $30 fly fishing class the next day specially designed for sweethearts! On Saturday, Feb. 12, Headwaters Outfitters will host Toxaway Wine & Cheese for a free wine tasting event at the outfitter’s Rosman store from 4 to 6 p.m. Peter Stone, owner of Toxaway Wine & Cheese, will be on hand with samples from two whites and two reds. Stone will be taking orders at the tasting and will offer half and full case discounts to those who attend the event.

A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Stone served as owner and head chef at a restaurant in the low country of South Carolina before moving to WNC and opening Maple in Brevard. Stone also worked throughout the Atlanta-based Buckhead Life Restaurant Group, including Pano & Paul’s and The Atlanta Fish Market. The next day, Feb. 13, Headwaters Outfitters will hold a $30 fly casting clinic for couples from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Lovers will learn the basics of executing a roll cast, sidearm cast, overhead cast and bow-and-arrow cast, using rods and reels provided by Headwaters. Classes will take place on the banks of the North Fork of the French Broad River, adjacent to Headwaters’ river shop at the intersection of Hwy. 215 and Hwy. 64. Reservations are required and there is a maximum of 6 participants. Call (828) 877-3106 to hold a spot.

Carolers, Hot Cider, Tree Trimming, Horse Carriage Rides, a Live Nativity Scene and a PARADE!  This year’s parade boasts the theme: Jingle Bell Rock.  What more could anyone wish for…..Santa will even be joining in on the fun!  Join in the Holiday Cheer in Brevard, NC!  Stroll over to the Silvermont for the Festival of Trees or catch a ride in one of the FREE Horse Carriage Rides.  Following the parade the Mayor of Brevard, Jimmy Harris, will read the Night Before Christmas.  Why not make a weekend of it and bring home a hand cut Christmas Tree from one of our fantastic local farms?

23rd Annual Twilight Tour

Our Twilight Tour takes a turn back in time, celebrating mountain traditions. Get a glimpse of the various downtown shops and restaurants by hitching a horse carriage ride at any of the 3 different carriage stops. (One route even takes you to the Festival of Trees at Silvermont.) While waiting in line you’re sure to be entertained with karaoke, movies, and theatrical drama. The Courthouse lawn will be sparkling with twinkling lights. School children and community choir musicians will gather at the gazebo to fill the evening air with holiday songs. Special pantomime of a LIVE NATIVITY on the courthouse steps will be performed by Brevard Wesleyan Church. The sidewalks will glow in the light of 1000 luminaries. See if you can spot the special Christmas characters roaming the streets in their lighted costumes.
