If you will be traveling to Brevard for the 4th of July, be sure to check out all of the events our community has to offer. There is a festival in downtown Brevard on Monday, July 4th which begins with the annual 5K/10K Firecracker Run and ends with a fantastic fireworks display at Brevard College!
Throughout the day Brevard will host live music, a children’s parade, pet show, arts and crafts showcase, car show, and more. For more information and a list of the scheduled events, visit the Heart of Brevard. Come and share your patriotic pride with the best small town in WNC!
Firecracker 5K/10K Run – Brevard Rotary Club – Check-in 6:30am -7:45am, Race begins at 8:00am – South Gaston Street (near Trans. Co. Library)
All Star Pet Show – Transylvania Humane Society – All well-behaved animals of any kind welcome. All cats in crates and all dogs on leashes with current rabies’ tags on collars. 40th Annual Fine Arts & Crafts Showcase – Transylvania Community Arts Council, West Main Street – Call 828.884.2787 for more information.

Old Time Fair on the Museum Grounds – Transylvania Heritage Museum – All American fun at the Museum (hot dog stand). Bingo beginning at 6:00pm under the large tent, goes until 8:30pm. West Main Street: 10:00am – 5:00pm
Bicycle Parade – Sycamore Cycles, Downtown Brevard has its own special Fourth of July Parade. This one is just for children, and they can decorate and ride their favorite bicycles. Children can compete for the Most Patriotic, Most Creative, and the Most Unusual. Everyone wins something! Registration 1:00pm, Parade begins 1:30pm *must have helmet – Water Oak Suites (East Main Street)

Memorial Flag Raising – Brevard Fire Department & Connestee Fire & Rescue – Main Intersection of Main/Broad Street: 2:30pm – 3:30pm
Declaration of Independence – Elected Officials – And an important tradition is the reading of the “Declaration of Independence.” During the day’s festivities we take time to reflect on the incredible document created in 1776 that has made so much possible in our wonderful nation. “The Great Western Melodrama” – Brevard Little Theatre (American Legion Hall) A free, family-friendly, vaudeville-style melodrama presented by BLT as part of Transylvania County’s Arts & Culture Week and the Heart of Brevard’s Fourth of July Celebration. Get out of the sun for awhile and come BOO, HISS, and CHEER while you enjoy a good, ole-fashioned, American melodrama in the air-conditioned American Legion Hall located at the corner of South Johnson & East Jordan Streets–just one block from downtown East Main Street. (Cool drinks and snacks will be available for purchase. All performances are FREE to the public! (Donations are appreciated.) 3rd Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest – Come and claim Brevard’s coveted new title. $5 entry fee per person. 4:00pm in front of Rocky’s Grill & Soda Shop (on South Broad Street)
Duck Race for Kreative Kids – Adopt a duck for the Duck Race for Kreative Kids and join hundreds of feathered friends flocking together to help provide creative opportunities for youth in our community. 5:00pm – Kings Creek (Brevard College Campus) *can adopt duck(s) day of at their booth (West Main Street)
Fireworks Extravaganza – Hosted by Brevard College: 9:30pm (Rain Dates: July 7th or July 8th) And by the end of the evening we are treated to a Fireworks Extravaganza that will leave you wanting to spend the rest of your holidays in the mountains.
